November Family Messenger
2023
Dear Marthasville Students and Families,
The months are sailing along and I find myself reflecting often on our growth at Marthasville. Sitting through numerous conferences with parents made me super proud of our students and excited about our future gains. We appreciate your continued support in your child's education and achievement! FastBridge assessments start at the end of the month for the winter benchmark. Family Reports will be sent home later. If you need help deciphering the reports, let me know!
After looking at attendance for both 1st Quarter and October, I am highly concerned with the number of tardies that are occurring. Last year we really decreased our tardies from the previous year, but this year it seems we have tripled. School starts promptly at 7:45. Our doors open at 7:20, so students have 25 minutes to arrive and eat breakfast before the final bell rings. If they arrive after 7:45, they are tardy. If your child arrives by 8:15, it is marked as a tardy. Anything after that is an absence. When your child reaches 10 tardies, a letter is autogenerated to be mailed out. All attendance letters are autogenerated and mailed out, regardless of absences being excused or unexcused, and reasons. If I am concerned about your child's attendance, you will be hearing from Mrs. Busekrus and me. One of our main goals is to have our students at school learning! If your child is struggling to get going in the morning and is causing issues getting to school on time, let me know if you need support.
Classrooms with 96% higher attendance receives a certificate and different incentive each week. Students with no tardies will also start receiving fun surprises! If you need to discuss your child's attendance further, don't hesitate to reach out so we can problem solve together. I am here to support your family!
PTG is looking for a Vice President. This position supports the President and assists with events, fundraisers, etc. As Vice President, you will play a role in day-to-day operations of the PTO, help formulate the group’s long-range plan, work out issues as they arise, and participate in executive board discussions and decision making. If you are interested, please reach out and let me know!
Families and visitors planning on attending the Veteran's Day program, please bring your ID so it can be scanned in Raptor. Mrs. Brueggemann can do this Monday-Thursday 7:00-3:00. If you wait until Friday morning, please arrive early as each scan takes a few minutes to complete. Visitors will also sign in and receive a name badge. The program will start promptly at 9:00. Doors open at 8:30. Thank you for helping keep our students safe!
If you ever need help or have questions or concerns, feel free to reach out via email, call, or FB messenger- I am here for you and I truly do appreciate your feedback and support.
We are Shining Bright at MVL!
Have a great November,
Mrs. Kristen Daffron

Counseling Corner with Mrs. Busekrus
Dear Families,
We’re excited to share that our school is participating in Cash for Classrooms, part of Casey’s Rewards. The best part? Donations don’t come out of your own pocket. When you buy from Casey’s and use their rewards program you can simply turn your points into a donation to our school. Find Marthasville Elementary in the rewards section of the Casey's app to start donating today! Any donation that a school receives from the program can be used to purchase supplies for extra-curricular activities including sports, technology, art and/or school supplies within your school. Join us in giving back to your community! Funds will be disbursed to schools twice a year via check to the school's address and will be sent in December and April. No minimum amount required.
Thank You for the Support!
-Mrs. Busekrus
