Leader in Me - Parent Survey

As a Leader in Me Lighthouse school we are always working to understand how we can improve. Please complete the survey below as part of an annual assessment to help all members of the school community (students, parents, and the adults who work at the school) understand how we're doing. Your responses will provide us with important information to help us become even better. All of your responses are completely anonymous. The survey should take you approximately 10-15 minutes to complete. Please try to respond to all items. Thank you!

A HUGE thank you to all the volunteers and people who donated their time, food and various items to Breakfast with a Buddy! Cub Scout "Picnic on the Playground"

The Cub Scouts of Pack 712 would like to invite all K-5 students and their families to our Year-End "Picnic on the Playground" this Sunday, June 2nd from 2:30-6:00. We'll have a short welcome and introduction to Cub Scouting session at 2:30 followed by lots of fun and activities for the kids. For those who wish to stick around, we'll be having a picnic dinner around 4:30. Families are encouraged to bring a dish to pass, but this is optional.

Come on out, learn about Cub Scouts, and join in some of these great activities: rockets, bounce house, gaga ball, cast iron cooking, leather branding and stamping, rain gutter regatta, and more. For those with interest in joining Cub Scouts but are unable to attend, please contact Cubmaster Jason Wilburn at jason.m.wilburn@gmail.com.

Gleaners Community Food Bank Cereal Drive

We will be collecting boxes of cereal from Monday, May 20th – Friday, May 31st. On the 31st, Gleaners will collect the cereal and then distribute it to children throughout Michigan who benefit from the free or reduced breakfasts and lunches during the school year but do not know where their next meal will come from over the summer. Last year, more than 29,000 servings of cereal were collected across the district and with your help, we hope to boost that number to more than 40,000. Boxes will be placed in the main lobby at Silver Springs. Please consider helping us end the summer hunger of hundreds of thousands of children in Michigan.

A Message from Food Services...

IOU’s will not be issued after May 24th from the Cafeteria. We have several students who have overdrawn accounts so please check your child’s lunch account and send in payment if it is overdrawn. As you deposit money into your child’s lunch account, please remember that any money left in their lunch account at the end of the year will automatically be carried over to the next year, even if the student transfers to middle school. The Food Service Department is only able to refund money to students leaving the district. Please call 248-344-3690 with any questions.

2019/2020 School Supply Kit Ordering Time!

We are into the 4th quarter of the school year now so ready or not, it's time to plan for next year!

The Northville Council of PTA's, in coordination with Silver Springs PTA, is again offering the Edukit School Supply Kit fundraiser. The lists have been developed by each of the grades as recommended supplies for your student. This fundraiser is completely optional and is only being offered as a convenient way to get all your supplies, as the Northville Public Schools provides the necessary supplies and materials for your child's successful school experience. If ordered by June 14th, the kits will be shipped directly (for free) to the school. After June 15th, kits will be shipped directly to your home for a nominal fee. Please contact Laurie Techko (lev1972@yahoo.com) with any questions.

Supporting the The 7 Habits at home!

7-Habits Take Home Activity for April

This month’s Habit: Habit 7 Sharpen the Saw

Due Date: May 31, 2019

Habit #7: Sharpen the Saw

What this means: Balance feels best. In order to maintain and increase effectiveness, we must renew ourselves in body, mind, heart and soul.

“I take care of my body by eating right, exercising, and getting sleep.”

“I find meaningful ways to help others.”

“I spend time with family and friends.”

“I learn in lots of ways and places, not just at school.”

How can I do this in my life?

1. Go for a walk.

2. Read a book.

3. Volunteer in your community.

4. Value the difference in others.
