Words of Wisdom

"Live so that when your children think of fairness and integrity, they think of you."

~H. Jackson Brown Jr.

We all know that telling a child "Do as I say and not as I do" is pointless, right? They are too smart. They get the hypocrisy of that statement even before they are old enough to know the definition of the word. So the importance of role modeling cannot be overstated.

It doesn't mean we have to be perfect. We're not, and we never will be. But it does mean that as adults who have influence over the lives of young people, we must model all that we want to them to learn.

When we fall short of the mark, which we will do often, then we have a great opportunity to model appropriate responses to poor choices, such as humility and regret. We can do what we can to make amends, and then get back to the business of being a good role model.

MCA Testing Continues This Week!

CPA will continue MCA testing this week. MCA tests are used to measure student proficiency in Reading (grades 3-8 and 10), Math (grades 3-8 and 11), and Science (grades 5, 8, and 10).

MCA testing at CPA began on Tuesday, April 26th and will run through Friday May 13. Students will have modified schedules on the days they are testing. See the CPA district calendar for specific test dates for your student. For more detailed information about any of the standardized tests CPA students participate in, please click here.

MCA tests provide valuable information about what our students have learned and what we can do to help them grow. These tests are important to the CPA community, so we ask all families to help support their children by ensuring they are well rested and ready to do their best on testing days. Thank you for your support!

Every Meal Program

CPA's partnership with Every Meal has begun! Through this program, CPA families can register each enrolled child to receive a bag of food to take home each week. This program is entirely free and is open to anyone who is interested. Everyone who registered early should have received their first bag of food last week. Those who registered in the past week will be added to the program in May.

There are 5 types of food bags available to suit your dietary preferences. On the registration form, you can see the kinds of food each bag contains and choose your preference.

There is no deadline to register for this program. Anyone who registers this year will automatically be registered for next year as well. Throughout the summer when CPA is not in session, Every Meal food bags will be available for free at several locations throughout the city. We will share details about that prior to summer break.

You can register here or turn in the paper registration that was sent home with students last week. If you have any questions, please contact Chelle York (651-280-4509) or Sadie Fischer (651-280-4564).
