Act 1 scene 1 "The Witches"
2006, Geoffry Wright vs. 2010 Rupert Goold
THE PLAY VS. THE MOVIE
Out of the two versions I think that the 2010 version by Ropert Goold was the most accurate. Ths version was very similar to the movie in many was. Some of the main ways it was similar was how the movie set the tone for the rest of the play. It gave us that feeling that a lot of bad and weird stuff was gonna happen. I also liked the 2010 version more because the witches looked as if the could of been witches unlike the witches in the 2006 versin who looked very young.
THE WAY THE CHARACTERS ACTED
One difference between the characters was the way they acted. In the 2006 version you could tell there was gonna be a lot of comomtion because the witches were damaging and vandalising the cemetery. In the 2010 version they were acting weird and it was weird and creepy. So both authors had different views one wanted them to seem reckless and the other wanted them to look creepy and weird.
THE SETTING OF THE SCENE
The scenes were very different but at the same time they were very similar both of the scenes had some kind of symbolizim with death. In 2006 version they were in a cemetery and in the 2010 version they are nurses and the guy is rolled up to them and they kill him and take his heart out. Both of these scenes let us know that people were gonna die.
THE WAY THE CHARACTERS LOOKED
One difference I noticed between the two versions was the way the characters looked. It was significant because the Witches in the 2010 version were much older and looked more creepy and intimidating then the witches in the 2006 version. This is relevent because in the text the witches were discribed as ugly if they were suppose to be men and they looked creepy and weird.
