  • Scenario Planning
The District is planning for the possibility that schools may not reopen this school year. The District is waiting to hear on a decision about the end of the school year and summer activities.
  • Strategic Planning
The work of the Strategic Plan Committee has been put on hold for the month of April. Dr. Kaczkowski explained that this decision was made so that the community could focus on health and wellness in these uncertain times. The leadership team is looking to revise the process online and it may start back up soon. The Community survey that has already been launched is active and open.
  • Remote Learning Update
Dr. Kaczkowski thanked Assistant Superintendent for Teaching, Learning and Accountability Dr. Katie McCluskey and her team for transforming learning to a remote learning model. She shared that teachers have demonstrated patience, flexibility and creativity as they work to implement the plan during a very unanticipated and stressful period of time. Staff and families are encouraged to be patient and flexible because that will be what gets us through this. She reminded the Board that It is important to note that the remedies of furloughs and layoffs are not available to the public school districts of DuPage County nor to any public school district in the state of Illinois. The Executive Order issued by Governor Pritzker prohibited public schools from releasing public school employees during this crisis as a matter of budget reduction while mandating the continued payment to third party contractors whose services will be needed upon the reopening of schools for in-person instruction. Additionally, each school district was charged with the duty of providing food to all students who request it during school days.
  • School Finance During the Closure
School Districts cannot use furloughs or layoffs as a part of an executive order. The District will continue to work on this and problem solve to work in new ways and to continue to provide learning and support for students. Food service for students continues and the District will work hard to make sure this continues even when supplies are low.
