Students in arts-integrated classrooms have higher levels of engagement and fewer disciplinary referrals, resulting in higher academic achievement. Why? Because creative processes help students find personal relevance and meaning in their learning. During this course, discover how to embed accessible (and fun!) arts-based strategies into your lessons to promote critical thinking, inquiry, reflection, and social-emotional intelligence. Develop rich, culturally responsive essential questions that excite intrinsic curiosity. Examine how arts experiences can be used as formative and summative assessment tools. Neurodiversity News with the Autism Resource Team

The Autism Resource Team (ART) hopes everyone is having a great start to the 2021-2022 school year! We have a new member on our team this year, serving our colleagues in the East region. Her name is Reagan Goeken. Please check our assignment list to see which core and extended team members will be supporting you this year!

We have a few new resources that we’d love to share with you. The first is our new autism resources webpage through the Green Hills AEA website. Here you will find all the same great info but in a more user-friendly format. This site is still under construction, but feel free to visit it now, and check back later for updates. On our webpage, we have our universal supports document, data collection resources, and wonderful websites with evidence-based practices and other useful resources.

Another document we recapped is our Autism Team Support Process. This flowchart is useful to help determine when it’s appropriate to make a referral to the autism team. This process ensures we’re making data-based decisions and all essential team members have been brought to the table to best support our students. With that being said, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us with questions at any time, we’re always happy to brainstorm with you or answer any quick questions you or your team may have. We can all be reached via email anytime!

Lastly, we are so excited to share our new referral form. This google form is easy to fill out and gives us great information about your student’s strengths, what has already been tried and what is currently in place and working. It can be found on the autism resources webpage on the Green Hills AEA website. This form is brand new, so if you see anything on it that you're questioning or you have any ideas for how to make it better, please send your feedback to any autism team members!

We look forward to collaborating with you!
