Weeks 5-6 of new learning continues!!!
At 10:00 am on Monday, May 18th, our new set of two week packets was made available for parent pick up. They will be outside of the main office doors for the next two weeks to be picked up at any time. These packets are also posted on our website
The packets are organized by grade level and do NOT have student names on them. The contents inside of the grade level packets is the same for each packet

Below are a few reminders:
* Algebra I and Spanish I students MUST engage with their teachers during the 4th nine weeks to receive high school credit for the class. You can reach Mrs. Gayle at firstname.lastname@example.org or Mr. Flythe at email@example.com or call the main office at 757-242-3229 for more information.
* Parents of rising 8th graders: Students do not have to put in a formal request for Algebra. Placement is done by staff and a rubric is used to determine if a student qualifies. We look at several factors including work ethic, test scores, grades and teacher recommendation. We are in the process of making those decisions and students placed in Algebra will be notified at the end of the school year. If you student is not recommended for Algebra, you may then put in a formal request.

Parents of rising 9th graders!!! In a separate email on Tuesday, May 26th, you will receive the Parent approval for 20-21 course requests form. Please complete this document as soon as possible to verify your child's freshman class schedule. Please call the main office at 757-242-3229 if you have any questions. Please do not forget to leave a detailed message!

We are happy to be extending the Clever Portal for all students and staff! GTMS has been using Clever to login to Exact Path. This technology provides students and families an easy, one-stop-shop approach to access all the learning applications students typically use at school, plus a few extras that will help increase student engagement while learning at home. It keeps websites all in one place which makes it easier for everyone.
Students will log into the IWCS Clever portal by visiting www.clever.com/in/iwcs

Parent Information Update
Over the summer, our student information system, PowerSchool, went through a significant upgrade. One of the changes affected how contact information (phone numbers, email addresses) is stored in PowerSchool, which, in turn, impacted how Connect 5 pulls this information. We have been made aware that some of our families may not be receiving emails to primary, or multiple, email addresses, or possibly calls to certain numbers. These issues can be resolved by setting up a Parent Portal Account in Connect 5. To do this, you will need your child's school ID number to complete the process. Just follow the detailed steps on the attached document found at the bottom of this message. If you previously created an account, it's possible that you need to associate your child to the account, or you may need to update your contact information. The document will walk you through those steps as well. If you have any issues creating or updating your account, please call the main office at 757-242-3229. You may also drop by and office staff can update the information for you. Please be sure to bring a valid ID.
