OASL continued its commitment to providing quality student leadership development opportunities with a brand new weekly series. Participants gathered via Zoom for the hour-long sessions. In recognition of students’ busy and diverse schedules, both an afternoon and early evening time slots were offered. In total, 46 students from 14 different schools logged in for the chance to learn, grow and connect with student leaders from across the state.
Connie Miley, OASL’s Executive Director, designed the curriculum that focused on essential elements of effective leadership including attitude, perspective, mission, vision, and desired strengths. Students explored the topics through active discussion, Kahoots, relevant videos, and group presentations. Miley praised the students who chose to participate, noting their commitment to personal growth – even when they may be feeling “screen-fatigue.”
OASL is grateful to Val Fletcher and Holly Coats for their role as co- directors of the weekly sessions. In addition, we recognize the efforts of the following staff team members who helped to facilitate the program: Sankalp Agrawal, Azhaan Ashraf, Daniel Bonacci, Katelyn Carnes, Sydney Cassel, Erica Collins, Hannah Cross, Cole Dickson, Juliana Discher, Ethan Ford, Joanna Gallagher, Megan Goebel, Kylee Hendershott, Ali Horner, Viktoria Leonard, Maddy McKinney, Emily McWilliams, Gauri Midha, Alaina Murphy, Ria Narang, Elizabeth Rusnak, Mya Smith, Jenna Walters.

Thank you to our fifty five middle school students, high school students, and staff members who came together to learn about how to be H.E.R.O.s when communicating with others, how to have authentic conversations and how to be more inclusive in the way we address others!
Our virtual retreat once again proved that when OASL brings motivated student leaders together, valuable dialogue and learning takes place! We look forward to offering a virtual Winter Retreat in early 2021 and in future years to come, even when our in person events are once again able to occur!
