Harding Elementary School Innovates in its 2016 Family Science Fair

Students in fourth grade were eager to participate in our Family Science program this year Mrs. D'Arpa and Mrs. Goger facilitated many exciting experiments with our "scientists" and studied various topics including Density, Force and Motion, Chemical Reactions & Electricity. On our final week, all of our participants will be presenting their own experiment that they have created with their families in our Mini-Science Fair. It's always a great time when Science is a reason of enjoyment in our students' lives. A special thanks to Mrs. Ehmann for the pictures of this awesome event!

7th and 8th Grade Academy Students Participate in Students2Science Lab

Attached you will find pictures of the 7th /8th grade Academy students participating in experiments at the “Students 2 Science” laboratory in East Hanover. The day’s activities consisted of students working on various real world issues that require critical thinking to overcome. The main focus of the experiments had to do with “separation,” such as oil from other liquids (oil spill in the Gulf), the strength of medication (how it works in the body), the amount of caffeine in beverages (energy drinks vs. coffee), and dissolving medications (antacids).

Overall a great day of fun and science with the chemists and volunteers!

Harding Students Attend Gifted & Talented Environmental Convocation

On Wednesday March 23, the G&T students from Harding went on their Environmental Convocation trip. The purpose of the trip is to promote environmental awareness in the surrounding community by serving as leaders and providing activities that demonstrate environmental friendly ideals.

The children worked with other G&T students from Union County to remind them selves to "unplug." In groups, students used recycled materials to create an invention. They also held a mock trial to determine if Once-ler was guilty of ignoring the common good and polluting the environment based on the movie The Lorax.

It was a fun day!!
