Welcome to Corley Elementary School
2015-2016
Welcome Back Letter
Dear Parents and Corley Community,
On behalf of the staff at Corley Elementary School, I am happy to welcome you to the 2015-16 school year! We are looking forward to a productive partnership with you to ensure our children can achieve their highest potential. We strongly believe that the partnership between school, family, and community is essential to educating and preparing students for the future.
New this year is a change to our school hours. Schools begins at 8:50 and ends at 3:20. Our car rider line will open at 8:00 am and remain open until buses have arrived. We will continue to offer early morning writing instruction beginning at 8:30. We encourage all students to ride the bus or be at school by 8:30 to take advantage of writing support.
Corley is a learning community that values high expectations for both academics and behavior. The safety of all students is of utmost importance. Our staff and students routinely practice safety drills on a regular basis. We believe in fair and consistent discipline that encourages students to be responsible individuals. Corley’s Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support Program (PBIS) is evident throughout the building. Our three key behavior expectations are “Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Be a Problem Solver.”
Parents and community members are invited to support our belief that all children can learn as we seek to make a difference in the lives of our students. We believe that communication among parents, students, and teachers is critical in assuring student success. Please share with your child’s teacher any information regarding his or her special needs that will help us better serve your family. We ask that you guide and support your child’s learning by ensuring that he/she:
1) Attends school daily and arrives on time, ready for the day’s learning experience
2) Completes all homework assignments given by teachers
3) Reads daily to develop a love for reading and to improve literacy skills
4) Shares school experiences with you so that you are aware of his/her school life
5) Informs you if he/she needs additional support in any area or subject
6) Knows that you expect him/her to succeed in school and prepare for college or career options
Corley Elementary is proud to be a member of the Berkmar Cluster. We encourage our students to “Start as a Patriot” and “Finish as a Patriot”.
Read with your child, spend time with your child, and have a wonderful year!
