Snow is falling and books are calling...
Guibrary is a hit with students and teachers
An entire grade level of students gathered in the library for a holiday read aloud, hands-on art project, and a movie that tied into the theme for that grade level. For instance, this year 6th graders learned about the legend of the poinsettia while 4th graders learned about Hanukkah and the dreidel.
When asked what he liked best about Guibrary, 2nd grader Elijah said, "We got to watch a movie and do a fun project. We also got to read a book, and I like to read." Mrs. Hinthorn, 3rd grade teacher, stated, "I love that the whole 3rd grade can do an activity together. They don't get to do that very often, so it's a treat when they do. They get to spend time together and interact with each other. Oh, and the cookies are great, too!"
Barnes and Noble Book Fair Fundraiser a success
Student Council Corner
Student Council members sold Holiday Grams to students the last week of school in December. This includes a Christmas tree cutout with a candy cane attached to it. The proceeds from the Boo Grams sold in October and the Holiday Grams in December go toward charitable donations. This year the Student Council members voted to donate part of the gram proceeds to the Saving Death Row Dogs organization and part of the proceeds to the Wanamaker Mustang Den, a clothing bank accessible to WE families. These donations were presented by the Student Council at the holiday assembly held on Dec. 20. Student Council sponsors are Ms. Costello, Mrs. Fairchild, and Mrs. Reinert.
