Davenport's Weekly Update
Week of January 31st, 2021
Message from the Principal
Greetings,
Families, thank you for continuing to trust in our staff and EHT district. We truly appreciate your patience and understanding as we have been adjusting/adapting to new experiences, TOGETHER. The is the week of LOVE... Please know that we LOVE all of our students and want the very best for them ALL.
Teachers as we embark on yet another week of the year, I urge you to continue to take care of yourselves. We have ALL endured many challenges from the previous year and currently, but we are RESILIENT! Let’s not forget that education is the Key to Success… Remember to fill your tanks daily doing something that you enjoy, whether it is reading a book or meditating for 5mins. There are many people in this world that maybe worse off than us, loss of jobs, finances, etc., but we get the chance to get up every day to make a change in the world by educating young minds, our FUTURE! Keep up the GREAT work! You are APPRECIATED!
HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!

Student Achievement
A Little Snow + A Little STEM = Great Fun
Winter Serves Up Great Ideas For Writer's Workshop
Students in Mrs. Hampton’s 1st Grade class used the snowstorm and virtual snow day as an opportunity to generate new Writer’s Workshop ideas. Students were encouraged to play in the snow or have fun at home with their families and create “books” about those experiences during Writer’s Workshop. The students had a blast and are now working on some great books about their experiences!
ELL Students Partake In Virtual Field Trip
Mrs. Adamchak took her 1st grade ELL students on a virtual field trip to the Danone Factory in Bridgeton, NJ, where they got to see how plant-based milk is made and how it gets to the stores where their families buy groceries. Her ELL students prepared questions ahead of time in English and were so excited to be able to ask them to none other than, Mr. Adamchak, who manages the cold-storage area at Danone. A fun and interesting lesson was had by all!
School Lunches Are A Hit!
His smile says it all! One of our Elementary students who normally packs his lunch enjoyed eating a cafeteria-prepared meal for the very first time. He was later heard pondering, "why did I wait so long to try school lunch?"

Spruce Avenue Gets "Spruced" Up!
Driving along Spruce Avenue to and from school each day, one could not help but notice how unsightly the entire roadside had become with litter and debris strewn all over on both sides. That is until recently, when Mr. Tuthill "spruced" up Spruce Avenue.
On January 27th and 28th, on behalf of the Davenport School Green Team, the Spruce Avenue section (north of the BHP ) leading up to the Davenport school parking lot was given a huge make-over. Knowing that the students could not participate in our "Adopt A Schoolyard Program" this year, Mr. Tuthill (husband of our 3rd grade teacher, Mrs. Tuthill) volunteered his time and energy to pick-up all the bulk debris and recycling along Spruce Avenue. He reported the clean-up information to ACUA, giving the credit to our Davenport School Green Team program. (The irony in the photo below is unbelievable!)
