About Christopher Latham Sholes
He was a Milwaukee printer who first developed the typewriter in 1867 and then later innovated it by creating the QWERTY keyboard format.
Why this invention was purposeful
The creation of the typewriter was important because it made it much faster to create letters. It was a huge step up from writing with a feather pen and ink well on common stationary. This invention later brought about computers and that is also important.
"There is nothing to writing. All you do is sit down at a typewriter and bleed." -Ernest Hemingway
