USDA Extends Meal Funding, Free & Reduced Forms Still Required

All students, regardless of income, will receive free meals during the 2021-22 school year. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has extended the funding because of the coronavirus pandemic. This means the first time a student makes their way through the line for breakfast or lunch, their meal will be free. If a student decides to have a second milk, a second entrée, or a second meal, they will need to pay for their "seconds" through their lunch account.

Free & Reduced Paperwork

It is important the paperwork necessary to receive free and reduced meals is still completed. That's because these forms are what the district utilizes to provide families reduced or free school fees; such as registration, textbooks, drivers education, etc. In addition, the school district receives federal funding for a variety of programs based upon the number of students who qualify for free and reduced meals. The form may be found on the website, under Parent Info > School Meals > Free & Reduced.

If you have any questions regarding qualification, or the paperwork related to this process, you may call the school at (712) 472-2664, or email secondary secretary Leah Lupkes at
