‘GROWING GREATNESS / GRANDEZA EN CRECIMIENTO'
Each month, Canby School District and the Canby Kiwanis Club will highlight a different school in our district and will recognize a staff member from that school with the CARE Award. Baker Prairie will be highlighted during the month of December. So, if you know of a Baker Prairie staff member who has made a difference in your life, the life of a child you know, or in the community, please consider nominating them for the CARE Award.
THANK YOU TO OUR VETERANS!
Honoring all our Veterans. Thank you for faithfully serving our country and protecting our freedom. Your sacrifice to serve and defend our Nation will never be forgotten.
We salute Mr. Kelley who bravely served this Nation. Thank you for your service to our country!
TODOS JUNTOS
Dear families, we are starting our Sphero Heros club soon. Please make sure that if your student is interested in soccer, homework help, and Sphero, that you fill out the following form. If you have any questions please contact Amy Johnston at 503-263-7170 or by email, amyj@todos-juntos.net.
PEDESTRIAN SAFETY TIPS
Before the bell rings to start the day and after the bell rings to signal its end, our schools are active with people, cars, and buses! We are thankful for our community police and fire partners and with their assistance, we’ve compiled this list of pedestrian safety reminders to help everyone stay safe during the arrival and dismissal process. Please take a look and share them with your students.
Make sure you never play, push, or shove others when you walk around traffic.
Use the sidewalk whenever possible, and if there isn’t a sidewalk, walk on the edge of the street facing traffic.
Use marked crosswalks when they’re available. Otherwise, cross carefully at an intersection.
Before crossing, always look left-right-left for vehicles or bikes, and don’t assume they can see you.
Everyone should watch the road, not their phones.
HOLIDAY DRIVE
The Canby School District Coin & Toy Drive has begun and will run through Dec. 2. During this event, we will be collecting spare change and new unwrapped toys at our school to support the Kiwanis Canby Community Food & Toy Drive, an event that has been serving Canby families for more than 60 years. Note that this year, Kiwanis will not collect food as in years’ past but coin funds will go toward food gift cards for families. Applications for assistance are available at the school office.
REVIEW NEW LIBRARY SELECTIONS
Canby School District is providing an opportunity for parents to review new library books before they go into circulation in the district libraries. The opportunity will take place at the Ackerman Library on Nov. 21 from 3-5 p.m. Those who attend will use Canby School District guidelines for selecting and reviewing library texts to submit a review form online.
