Monterey Community Connections

October Newsletter

Fall is in the air!

It's starting to feel a little bit like fall. Pumpkin spice fans are very excited! Your children may be planning what they want to be for Halloween. Or you may be getting the warm snuggly blankets out of the linen closet. Here in the Monterey area of Inspire Charter Schools, we are rolling out our October events and field trips for community connections. We have lots of fun planned for you this month including a fun PE themed park day, a guided painting class, a news station tour, and last but not least a fun pumpkin day party. Please see below for more details. Spread the word and sign up on Inspiration Station to RSVP.

When you RSVP if you would please come to the event! We had a lot of no shows at our last field trip. We do a lot of preparations behind the scenes and even when its a free event your students' numbers play a big part in how many teachers come to help, hired staff at the places we visit, free supplies organized ahead of time, etc. If you cannot come last minute please let me know via email, text, or phone call. Or update your RSVP on Inspiration Station.

Your Community Coordinator: Kristen Rhodes

I am here to help plan/facilitate events to better connect our local homeschool community! Please feel free to reach out with ideas and suggestions! Bookmark the Parent Resource Site so you can stay up to date on all our events. Not only our Community Connections Events are loaded onto that calendar but every teacher and our family liaison also posts events and field trips there. https://sites.google.com/inspireschools.org/inspire-central-ca/home

Middle School/ High School Event

KSBW News Station Tour

Wednesday, Oct. 16th, 11:30am-12:45pm

238 John Street

Salinas, CA

We will tour the news room and see the production of the noon news as it happens. This is a 6th grade through 12th grade tour ONLY. Due to the nature of the tour and the watching of the noon news you have to agree to your student viewing whatever might be presented that day. We want the tour to be more complex technically to interest older students. Anyone wanting to continue the conversation after the tour is invited to meet at Starbucks across the street. We hope this will foster friendships within the middle school and high school ages here within Inspire.

MEETING INSTRUCTIONS

Please meet in the waiting room of the news station no earlier than 11:30 am. All adult chaperones and siblings will be asked to wait in the waiting room until the conclusion of the tour. The tour can only allow a very small number and we wanted to maximize that with student access. Two inspire teachers will lead the students throughout the tour.

Address is
