Independence Day

We will hold our Independence Day on Tuesday, August 28. We ask all students to walk independently to class each morning. We will have staff available to provide assistance should that be helpful.

WatchDOG Pizza Invite

All dads and father figures are invited to our 4th Annual WatchDOG Kickoff Pizza Dinner next Wednesday, August 29 at 6:30 in our school cafeteria. See this flyer for more information.

Summer Reading Celebration

To celebrate our students who participated in the Summer Reading Challenge, we will hold a Splashtastic Event on Friday, August 31. If your child has not submitted a completed reading log, please be sure to send that to school by Monday. Look for a flyer coming home early next week with details.

Copier Training

Any parent volunteer wanting to assist with copying year needs to attend a training session with our school bookkeeper. Please plan on attending one of the following sessions:
  • Tuesday, August 28 at 9am
  • Tuesday, September 4 at 9am

If you are unable to come to one of those sessions, please contact Lucy Roesler, roeslerl@fortmillschools.org

Crayola Color Cycle

Our school will be participating in a very special program in conjunction with Crayola called Crayola ColorCycle – an amazing new program devised to turn used markers into energy!

All around Orchard Park students and teachers will be collecting used markers that are ready to be discarded. The markers will be sent to a facility where they will be converted into clean fuel. This fuel can be used to power vehicles, heat homes, cook meals and more!

Please help support our efforts by sending your kids in with any used markers you may have around the house – even non-Crayola brands. Drop-off boxes will be located around the school for your child to deposit the markers.

Thank you in advance for participating! With the help of parents like you across the country, the Crayola ColorCycle program can keep tons of plastic out of landfills each year.

Remember, don’t throw out that used marker—ColorCycle it!
