Monk Fryston Weekly News 2.7.21

PTA Sponsored Litter Pick

Thanks for supporting the PTA sponsored litter pick event. We have been really impressed with the amount of litter cleared! If your child has received sponsors, we are now collecting the money. This can either be donated through Parent Pay or brought directly into school. We would like all money to be collected by 19th July please.

You have covered 25Km which is amazing! About the same as Monk Fryston to Bilbrough, which is nearly York!!!

Sports Day

Next Thursday afternoon is our Sports Day. A letter containing important information about the way that this will run has been sent home. It is important that under the current restrictions everyone adheres to these guidelines

Change to the Menu Thurs 8th July

As it's Sports Day on Thursday our cook will be making a picnic style lunch for everyone having school dinners next week.

Reports

We are aiming to send reports home as usual at the end of this term. To allow teachers to have the most up-to-date information about children and reflect upon their current learning, these will come home a little later than in previous years. We hope to send them around 16th July which will give you some time to respond before the end of term should you wish to do so.

Competition Winner!

Well done to Connie E in Y3, she won the Read for Good Local Lockdown Writeups competition. All her own work in her own time at home. Superstar!!

Our 'STOP' Campaign

You may have seen recent media publicity about concerning levels of sexual harassment in schools. This falls within the remit of our ‘STOP’ campaign, and if any children experience behaviour that makes them feel uncomfortable it is important that they remember to Start Telling Other People.

Pre-Loved Uniform Sale

There will be a pre loved uniform sale after sports day on Thursday 8th July. Items of uniform will be available for a small donation (£1 per item suggested) payable by cash only. Please bring change as we will have limited change available, thank you.

Please drop off any unwanted, clean, good condition items of uniform in the box on the playground at pick up/drop off next Monday or Tuesday 5th & 6th July.

Thank you!

Sherburn Library - Summer Reading Challenge

Sherburn and Villages Community Library are thrilled to announce that the Summer Reading Challenge for Primary School children is back!

We're teaming up with the World Wildlife Fund for a very special nature-themed Challenge that will inspire you to stand up for the planet!

We will be launching 'Wild World Heroes' on Saturday, July 10th. Come to the library and sign up to find out what it's all about. The Challenge will be running throughout the summer holidays and you can join in any time so don't worry if you can't make it on the launch day. As usual there will be lots of fun rewards, puzzles and information to help you complete the challenge.

Here's just a little taster of what's in store for you...

'Pack your bags because we're heading for Wilderville! It's a pretty cool place, but there's lots of things that the Wild World Heroes can do to make their town even better for the people and animals that live there...'
