NEVER FORGET 9/11/2001
9/11 MEMORIAL SERVICE
On Friday 9/9, Student Council along with NJROTC will be putting on our annual 9/11 Memorial Service. For those new to this tradition, each year the Student Council invites Oak Ridge’s first responders to a brief service that takes place close to our bus loop where our very own 9/11 Memorial stands. A short speech is given by the Student Council President and Vice President, and a ceremonial wreath is presented as well. We will continue the practice of offering a livestream link for teachers who would like to show the ceremony to your classes if you choose. Viewing the live stream is optional and at teacher discretion. Mrs. Seals will announce a school wide moment of silence when the time comes during the service.
9/11 Memorial Service Program 2022 (Taking place on 9/9)
- 8:00- Student Council executives leave 1st period to arrive at memorial site and live stream link is sent to teachers.
- 8:15- Intro by Sasha Umansky
- 8:20- Speech by Student Council VP Luca Filigenzi

- Playing of Taps by Michael Spirko
- Presentation of memorial wreath
- 8:35- Moment of silence and thank yous distributed to first responders
SENIOR SHIRT CONTEST
The tradition continues. It’s time for the Senior Shirt Design Contest—the shirt that every senior gets to sign. Please submit your designs for the Class of 2023 Senior Shirt to Mrs. Ledden in Room CS347 by Thursday, September 22. You do not have to be a senior to submit designs for the shirt—open to all grade levels.
We need a front shirt design and a back shirt design. Each of these designs is a separate “contest”. Prizes for each contest are as follows: Front - $25; Back - $25. (That’s $50 if you win both!)
Be sure to incorporate ORHS, Seniors, and Class of 2023 into your drawings. Place your name and first period teacher’s name on the back of each design entry. Entries must be original work and if selected, will become the property of Oak Ridge High School. (Selection committee reserves the right to combine two or more designs in which case each person will receive prize money.)
NATIONAL ART HONOR SOCIETY
Meetings will be Thursdays from 3:15 - 4:30 in Ms. Eades' room. NAHS will be a place to try new things, work on existing projects for class, and make art for the community. You MUST submit a portfolio to this form!!!! You do NOT have to be a current art student to apply. If you are in sports, band, Masquers, etc. please consider joining NAHS anyway. This is a year long club.

PSAT FAQ
PSAT Frequently Asked Questions
- Why take the PSAT/NMSQT® exam?
The PSAT is a Practice SAT for 10th and 11th graders and the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test for 11th graders only. 10th and 11th grade students are encouraged to take the PSAT® for a variety of reasons: 1) It gives the most up-to-date picture of where you are likely to score on the actual SAT®. This will assist you in determining where you wish to spend your time and effort in preparing for the SAT® exam. 2) As a junior, you are entered as a part of the National Merit Scholar Qualifying Test (NMSQT®), a competition that awards some top scoring students across the nation with scholarships. 3) Another chance at a practice exam is always a good idea. This will help you to get a feel for the actual SAT exam, which may help to reduce testing anxiety. 4) If current sophomores may be planning to take any of our academic Dual Enrollment (DE) classes next year, it would be wise to take the PSAT this year because they most likely will not have taken the ACT by the start of their junior year and test scores are required to take many DE classes.
- When are scores released?
PSAT® results will be available online in December via the student’s College Board Profile. When scores are ready online, you’ll get an email with instructions on creating your College Board account, going to the online score portal, and using your access code to view your score report.
- Can I cancel my exam and receive a refund?
No. Cancellations and refunds of the exam fees are not possible.
- Can I test on another day or is there a make-up exam day?
No. The PSAT is a nationally normed test. Therefore, CollegeBoard sets the test date. There is no make-up test date.
- How do I prepare for the exam?
Review the official tools released by The College Board and The Khan Academy for this exam HERE
