The moon cycles and phases
The moon cycle or phases are when the moon orbits the earth and the sun shines on the moon, making the moon wax or wain. Waxing is the process of seeing more moon, waining means the process of the moon showing less and less until we reach new moon, where we see no moon. Then, we start waxing up to full moon (self explanatory). The half moon while the moon is sainting is called 1st Quarter, the half moon while waining is the 3rd Quarter. The moon phases less than half showing are crescent, the moon phases with more than half showing are gibbous.
Tides
Tides are the rise and fall of sea levels. Some examples of different tides include springtide, which is the tide at just after full or new moon when there is the greatest difference in
low and high water, and neap tide, which is The tide right after first or third quarter of the moon when there is the least difference between low and high tide. High tide is the highest level of tide. Low Tide is the lowest. These things are slightly self explanatory. High tides happen because the moon pull the tides.
Seasons
Seasons are caused by the tilt of the worlds axis. There are 4 seasons, and they occur with the same characteristics everywhere. This is often a misconception about seasons. We have seasons because of earths tilt on its axis.
Summer
Summer is the hottest season in the year, with the summer solstice (Longest day of the year) in it. An often occurring misconception is that the sun is farthest away from the earth in the summer, and closest in the winter. Some people think it is closest in the summer, as it is hottest, but this is false. It is farthest from the earth in summer.
Winter
Winter is the coldest season, but as I just said, the sun is closest to the earth in the season. This season has the winter solstice, which is The shortest day of the year, in it.
eclipses
A light formed by a celestial bodyby the passage of another between it and the observer. There are two types of eclipses, lunar, which is when the moon isnt able to be seen, and
solar, when the sun cant be seen. These both happen 2 times each in one year. A year happens because of earths obit of the sun, and days happen because of the moons orbit around the earth.
