Conley Update - 2nd Quarter
As the weather cools off for the 2nd quarter, we will be welcoming guardians to eat lunch with their students, on Fridays only. Here are the logistics:
- Guardian/Family member must sign in the front office. We will allow you to go back when it is their "lunch" time, not recess time.
- We cannot allow students to bring a friend with them to eat outside.
- Students who have visitors during lunch will eat on the picnic tables outside or bring a blanket and sit in the Amphitheater grass.
- The lunch period is 20 minutes.
- Guardian and Family members may not go to recess or the playground with student.
We hope everyone gets an opportunity to enjoy the cooler weather over break, refresh and come back ready for the 2nd quarter!
What is Tax Credit? Why do we need Tax Credit?
An individual may claim a nonrefundable tax credit for making contributions or paying fees directly to a public school in this state for support of eligible activities, programs or purposes as defined by statute. The public school tax credit is claimed by the individual taxpayer on Form 322. The maximum credit allowed is $400 for married filing joint filers and $200 for single, heads of household and married filing separate filers. This donation can be made to CONLY from anyone in Arizona - they do not need to reside in CUSD or have any children in CUSD!
WHY:
Tax credit is how we fund any and all "Extra- Curricular Activities; including but not limited to field trips, clubs, stipends for tutoring, campus/grade level assemblies. Field trip fees include, entrance to venue as well as the bus (driver, gas, etc.). While guardians pay a minimal fee for field trips, we cover the rest with our tax credit. We need our entire community to help us increase our tax credit fund. Please talk to your friends, family, neighbors, co-worker, etc. as ANYONE can donate to Conley. Click the link below to make your donation or to copy the link to send to friends and family! If you need help in navigating the system to make a donation, please call our front office at 480-812-6200.
Thank you in advance for your support!

Tech Savvy and STEM with Mrs. Kienitz
Students have had meaningful experiences in technology class that include digital citizenship lessons that include Internet safety, password security, and responsible usage of digital devices. With second quarter upon us, students in kindergarten and first grade will have experiences in the STEM lab to practice collaboration and introduction of the engineering design process. I encourage students as early as kindergarten to learn/memorize their student id number so they can successfully sign onto a computer.
Students in grades 2-6 will continue to learn and practice the engineering design process in the STEM lab and participate in some exciting keyboard challenges this quarter. Students are encouraged to practice keyboarding skills at home by logging into Clever. More information will be explained to them when we return from fall intersession.
Student Teachers
4th Grade - Alyssa Toth
Alyssa grew up here in Chandler and went to Patterson Elementary, Payne Junior high, and Basha High school. She went to U of A her freshman year and transferred to ASU where she is currently completing her student teaching. Alyssa is the youngest of 4 children, and her hobbies are shopping and hiking. She is student teaching with Mrs. Baker and Mrs. Lawler.
2nd Grade - Megan Ouellette
Megan Ouellette is currently a senior at ASU working on her dual degree in Elementary and Special Education. She is originally from New Jersey where she grew up having fun playing basketball. Megan was inspired by her older sister who is also a special education teacher. She loved helping in her sister's classroom and has now developed her own passion for working with children who have a variety of needs and interests. She is student teaching with Mrs. Krell.
1st Grade - Mrs. Jackie
Mrs. Jackie is currently a senior at Arizona State University and is a Resident in Training in Mrs. Collins' 1st grade class. She will also be working in the Spring with Mrs. Valdez in Resource. She adds fun to Math Centers and enjoys making learning exciting! We love having her in our class!
Little Library
We have a new addition to the front of our school – A Little Free Library Book-Sharing box. Central kitchen along with Aramark volunteers partnered with the Chandler Care Center to bring Little Free Libraries to the local community and our site was one of the lucky locations chosen. Little Free libraries provide 24/7 book access. They are book-sharing boxes are open seven days a week, 24 hours a day and are freely accessible to all, removing barriers to book access. We will be communicating with our families about our new addition and hope they will come and use it. When people come to visit the Little Library, they share books by taking a book inside the box and also leaving another book in the book-sharing box for others to enjoy.
