February 23, 2019 Week 4
Mrs. Fortunato’s Message
This past week was short and filled with blessings! I am appreciative of the many volunteers (parent feedback, crossing guards, door monitors, classroom support, SCRIP team and our Gala committee) who participated in making our school the place to be! Thank you for your commitment and dedication!
Some of our 8th grade students volunteered Friday evening at the "Family Success Center" in Flemington. It was a two hour social event (movie/games/pizza). It was lovely witnessing our students and students from local high schools (who have a harder time socially) become friends during their time together. Our 8th graders were polite, compassionate and really into leading board games. I am so proud of them. We are hoping more 8th graders will join us next month as we support such a great program. This social event takes place every last Friday of the month.
Next week is a super busy one! We are hosting our church Rosarians and seniors on Thursday for breakfast and a school tour. This was postponed from last week. On Friday, we will celebrate "Read Across America" with a Dr. Seuss theme. The children will gather in their Faith Families and engage in exciting educational activities throughout the morning. Our Dr. Seuss extravaganza will come to a close in time to host "Bring Your Grandparents to Lunch". All grandparents are invited to join their grandchildren for lunch and I look forward to meeting them. Please make sure to send in your rsvp if you are ordering school lunch. The cafeteria lunch is available to our visitors as well. Baked goods will be sold ($1) for dessert and raffle tickets will be sold for those interested in winning a marvelous Candy Tower! Please refer to the flyer for details.
As you know, we will be off to the races next Saturday, 3/2 at our 10th annual Gala! Go to our web site for the incredible details. We would love to have everyone attend. It's not too late to purchase tickets! I have previewed some of the tricky tray baskets and they are fabulous!

Look at these beautiful faces! The girls could not contain their excitement about their newest book. It is wonderful to see our students integrate reading and writing.
