Language Arts

Students have been enjoying our fairy tale unit that kicked off with Cinderella and Rumpelstiltskin. Students used a tree map to record fairy tale story elements found in each of them. Next week we will read more traditional fairy tales and then discuss and read fractured fairy tales. Fractured fairy tales are those that are a twist on the original.

Students are building upon their knowledge of the patterns on the number grid by completing number grid puzzles. This will become more complex next week as we will only be using arrows to provide us with clues as to our direction on the number grid: -10, +10, +1, , -1. Students will also be writing their own!

This week we started our unit our "Air and Weather" unit of study We began with the question, "What is air?" We also created a circle map and recorded what we already know. Next week we will conduct a number of experiments
using balloons, feathers, styrofoam balls, straws and paper.
