History of Thanksgiving

According to The History Channel's www.history.com, "In 1621, the Plymouth colonists and Wampanoag Native Americans shared an autumn harvest feast that is acknowledged today as one of the first Thanksgiving celebrations in the colonies." Clearly, these first Americans knew what they were doing when they started to celebrate our similarities and sit down at the same table. Almost 400 years later, we still use this holiday to come together into fellowship, as well as remember the things we are thankful for.

So, thank you for allowing us to be on your team, to share your wonderful children, and to raise tomorrow's leaders. While this Thanksgiving might not involve 30 people vying for the last piece of sweet potato pie, or standing in the midnight line at Best Buy to get a new gaming system on Black Friday, we sure have a lot for which to be thankful. May your holiday bring you new traditions, time with your family, and a renewal of hope.

Teacher of the Week

Each week, here in Eagle Nation, we honor a teacher who has contributed to the operations of CLIS in a profound way. We like to do a shout out to parents, too, just so you can know how amazing our staff is! This week's Teacher of the Week is Mrs. Brooke Brockmyre, Clear Connections PE teacher and girls' coach. She really works hard to connect with her virtual students, get them up and moving, and lend them an ear. By the way, her plank workout is TOUGH!

Band News

Last week, forty-one Clear Lake Int. Band students participated in the Region Band contest. This was a recorded audition on music we’ve been working on since August. Twenty-nine of our students placed. It’s a big accomplishment to make it, but it’s huge for 7th graders, especially after an incomplete beginner year, so they’re listed in italics. We’re very proud of the results from the competition!

Special congratulations to Kade Knobloch (percussion). He earned first chair - the highest ranked musician on his instrument in all of Clear Creek ISD! Awesome job!

Congratulations to everyone who tried out and thanks for all of your hard work!

Parent Drop Off and Pick Up

Drop off and pick up at CLIS allows for several options that parents can use. Through an agreement with St. Bernadette's Catholic Church, parents can park in their side parking lot located on the El Camino Real side of their building in the afternoons to wait for their children. In addition, we allow students to be dropped off in the front by the flagpole, as well as the back parking lot by the gyms. Please make sure your students know where you will be picking them up BEFORE school gets out. See the map below to decide what's best for your family. PLEASE NOTE - IN MORNINGS AND AFTERNOONS, PARENTS SHOULD NOT USE THE BUS LANE LOCATED ON EL CAMINO REAL.
