Principal's Messages
Dear families,
What a whirlwind it has been. I want to thank everyone for your patience, understanding, and support for our whole school community. We are a strong community. One that is based on love, resilience, empathy, and social awareness. I am so grateful to be the principal and to work with all our families, especially our children. I hope you all have a happy and safe summer. Please don't hesitate to reach out to me at any time.
All my love,
Katherine

Goodbye video to all our wonderful 3rd grade friends...we will miss you!
Thank you from PreK to 3rd graders!
To our 3rd Grade friends in Mrs. Sieffert's class, Mrs. Furniss's class, and Mrs. O'Donald's class,
THANK YOU from the Pre-K friends for pushing us on the swings, pulling us in the wagon, helping us build with snow, playing in the sand with us, having special snacks with us and overall being such KIND friends and helpers this year! We love you and will miss you next year.
Love from the Pre-K friends
Hello from Mrs. Lawrence!
Happy Summer, Readers!
Just in time for summer, many new books have been added to Sora by our district school librarians! Get to Sora from the library tab on the Hiawatha webpage, along with all of our other digital databases, and have fun reading and learning all summer long!
And if you were too busy this spring to try any of the options on the Library learning plan, it's not too late! The link to all of Phase 2 activities is here, and on the library webpage. STEM, cooking, readaloud videos, favorite book characters and authors, maker activities and crafts--all for you!
Enjoy!
Introducing our new SLP in PreK
I am the speech-language pathologist for the pre-k programs at Hiawatha and Summit Street Schools. I have been a school-based SLP for the past 9 years and I am so excited to join the early education program. I love helping children find their voices to become confident communicators through reading, storytelling and play! I feel so lucky to be part of this energetic and positive community. I look forward to supporting and collaborating with your family. When I am not at school, I love to spend time with my husband, my two children, and my two dogs. I also love walking, snow shoeing, running, reading, and going on outdoor adventures with my family!
Introducing new Special Educator!
My name is Jen Farnsworth. I have worked as a special educator at St. Albans and Barre, and I'm so excited to continue my journey here at Hiawatha in Essex! I currently live in Williston with my husband, cat, and dog. I love reading (especially Harry Potter) but my favorite subject is Math. I absolutely love llamas and you will likely see them in my classroom.
I am so excited to meet everyone!
a message from Miss Gengras
Hi artists and families!
You have done amazing work this year and I miss you all so very much. I hope you enjoyed seeing your artwork after such a long time, and I hope you have a wonderful summer. I look forward to seeing you after break!
If you did not receive a specific piece of artwork at pick-up, please email me directly. As of now Square1Art packets are in the process of being mailed back to Mrs. Mayhue. From what I understand, you should still be able to place orders once packets are returned. As soon as I have a more detailed update on this timeline, I will post it on the art webpage under the "announcements" section.
Please feel free to reach out over break with any questions, feedback, or just to say hello! The remote learning videos and lessons can be accessed at any time right from the art webpage, so fill up that sketchpad and stay creative! You rock Hiawatha artists, see you soon!
Sincerely,
Miss Gengras
