Be Kind To One Another
"We read the book Wonder in class. It was about a boy who was different" said Savannah Williams. "We learned that everyone is different." In the book, the main character Auggie has a facial deformation. He tells his story about being different and his journey to acceptance. He wears an astronaut helmet to hide his imperfections from his new 5th grade friends.
Mrs. Brohls class made helmets of their own and drew their face inside. "We did a writing assignment after we made the helmets." recalled Collin McFarland. "I believe we need to show kindness. I can use the bug and a wish strategy to help stop bullies."
"This project shows us that no one is perfect" Layla Bilger says. " Our whole class tries really hard to use kindness and remember what the book taught us."
Maybe the whole world can learn something from the students in room 228. Kindness is free. It doesn't require a lot of effort, but can make a huge impact. Thanks to Collin McFarland, Layla Bilger, and Savannah Williams for sharing your kindness project with me!
