Education for Prevention
Cyberbullying 101
The first step in preventing cyberbullying is to recognize it. Cyberbullying can come in many forms such as sending harassing messages, impersonating another person, posting someone else's' person info, posting false information about another person and using the Internet to enforce others to bully the victim. The most important thing for parents to do towards preventing their child from being victimized is to be their support system. This means always communicating with your child and remaining involved in their virtual lives. It is also important to educate your child what to do in cases that they feel victimized. It is important for your child to know that they should never engage with the person threatening them as this will only encourage their behaviors. Rather, the child should inform an adult immediately. Don't know how to recognize signs of danger? Take a look at the links below!
