A Note from Ms. Marlatt

Welcome to May, and welcome to the last month of this school year. It is very hard to believe we are almost at the end of this year's journey!

We continue to stress the importance of great attendance. This is something I will continue to remind you until our last week together! Please do your best to leave meetings and appointments for Mondays and after school. Do all you can to have your children to school on time, everyday!

I hope you enjoy our newest "This Week at Second Creek" video. We celebrated Buffy's birthday and we had fun learning together. Take a few minutes to read and take on all of the information shared here.

My door is always open. Please come by, call or email with you have any questions or suggestions for us to become better!

This Week at Second Creek

Staff Appreciation Week

Second Creek is excited to partner with our wonderful PTO to spoil our staff this week. Our PTO has worked very hard to get donations from several vendors. Please join in the fun! You and your students can show appreciation to our staff members in many ways - a homemade card, flowers, a hug with appreciation, small gifts... whatever you want to do to show our staff you appreciate their hard work!

And don't forget our fun spirit week!

Girls on the Run

We are so excited to offer this program next school year. Ms. Malloy and Ms. Sanchez will be our coaches. Here is the information we know so far:

  • For girls entering 3rd-5th grade
  • 10 weeks; 2x a week practice
  • Practice begins the week of 9/11/23
  • $95 per girl (scholarships available) (includes the 5k race at the end of the season)
  • practices will be 2X a week - 3:30pm to 4:30pm (days TBD)
  • 16 open spots right now. '

I have a feeling the 16 spots will be gone soon, so if you are thinking about this for your daughter (s), don't delay!

We want to congratulate Ms. Amber Pelster - current 2nd grade teacher - for her new appointment as our interventionist/CLS teacher. This new position will start next year. Ms. Pelster will divide her time as a reading interventionist and a CLD (Culturally and Linguistic Diverse) teacher. We are so excited to offer this as an extra layer of help for our students!

Chromebook Check-In

Chromebook Check-In

All Chromebooks will be checked back into our system no later than 5/23. Missing Chromebook and chargers will be charged to your student's account. Make sure your student's Chromebook (and charge cord - for 4th and 5th grade students) are ready. Mare sure the devices are clean and all stickers, etc are gone. All personal backgrounds on Chromebooks must be deleted. When your student returns next year, he/she will receive a new-to-student device. Turning in a clean device will help make sure no extra charges are placed on your student's account. If you have any questions, please contact your classroom teacher or call the office.

The Great Second Creek Cereal Domino Run

On May 23rd we will be doing our very first Second Creek Cereal Domino Run. You can watch something similar HERE. We will be having some fun with our students AND donating to a local food bank.

How can families help?

Please bring 2 boxes of cereal to your classroom teacher. Cereal boxes must be new - unused and unopened. We will donate all the cereal once the run is done.

We will go Facebook live for the event, so watch for more details soon!

This year, we have been asked to limit the amount of people in the gym for both ceremonies. We have fire codes we must follow, and we are concerned with everyone's safety. Due to these concerns and after meeting with our Fire Marshal and district personnel, we have been asked to limit guests to the following:


  • 2 guests per student. Infant/toddler siblings are okay to join. No school-age siblings are allowed.
