The lawmaking part of government, called the legislative. Makes laws. Appropriates funds for laws and programs. And it is made up of 2 houses, as created in the Great Compromise. And also it is the division of the government that proposes bills and passes them into laws. legislative branch is the part of the United States government that creates laws. Whenever you read about congresspeople in the Senate or House debating a law, you're reading about the branch of the government that writes, debates, and passes laws. Making laws can be called legislating.
