**We follow the Iowa Core Curriculum.**
Whole Class
Core instruction is delivered to students in a whole class setting. This means all students are taught the big ideas and themes together. We strive for active engagement to be sure all students are participating.
Small Groups
We can best meet students' learning needs in small groups. Here we can group students who perform at similar levels and teach them the specific skills they need. This is where we can support struggling learners or extend instruction for higher achieving students.
Extra Support
- Intervention groups
- Title One
- AmeriCorps
- Special Education
- ExCel
- "Specials" such as PE, Music, and Art support literacy instruction also.
Assessments
FAST: We provide universal screening for students preK-6th grade. Students who score below benchmark receive progress monitoring and intervention.
MAP: Formerly known as NWEA, students in grades 1-8 take the MAP test twice a year. These tests are computer adaptive, meaning they adjust question difficulty based on student performance. Scores are used t measure student performance over time.
ITP: Iowa tests, formerly ITBS, are given annually to students grades 2-11. These tests provide information for improving instruction.
