Mrs. Fortunato’s Message
Hello ICS Families,
Praise the Lord! Spring weather has finally arrived!
Graduation plans for our 8th graders are underway, and a meeting is planned for Wednesday evening to discuss plans. An invitation for a Zoom meeting was sent by the 8th grade homeroom teachers. If you are an eighth grade parent and did not receive the Zoom invitation, please let your child's teacher know and the invite will be sent asap.
I am finalizing registration paperwork for the 2020-2021 school year. Please make sure all your paperwork is complete. All paperwork and commitment fees are past due. The front office will contact you if paperwork is missing. It would be helpful to me if you checked to make sure you completed the process.
Some of our teachers are using Friday as a flexible day for students. As a reminder, this is up to teacher discretion. We are calling Friday, Flex Friday. As a reminder, it is not a day off from school. The flexible time is meant to modify teacher instruction and assist students with meeting educational expectations. This could mean a content area or an enrichment area. Since we are addressing curriculum requirements and individual student needs, your child’s teacher will guide you and your student as to how the time will be used each teacher strives to differentiate instruction on each grade level.
It looks like we will start a new preschool program for the 2020-2021 school year. I have circulated a survey and there seems to be an interest for a multi-aged 3/4-year old class. The new preschool class will be a full day program running from 8 am till 2:45 pm. Families will have the option to sign up for Before Care and After Care. Please spread the word! We will be advertising for this new program through inner school mail and then to the general public next week.
I am happy and sad to announce the retirement of two very special faculty members! Both teachers started working at ICS when the school opened its doors. Please join me in congratulating Mrs. MaryJane DeSaro and Mrs. Carolyn Pepperman for all their hard work and dedication to our school and community. Mrs. DeSaro plans on traveling and spending time with her grandchildren. Mrs. Pepperman has plans of travel and looks forward to pursuing coursework in Art Education. I am so blessed to have had the opportunity to work with such talented and compassionate teachers. I consider both dear friends and each close to my heart.
On a happy note…. our Student Council Teacher Mentors (Ms. Fickas and Mrs. Smith) have decided to coordinate and host a Virtual Student Talent Show! See the announcement below. More exciting details to follow. I am hoping to see a lot of great videos!
In closing…. many thanks to all our parents for continuing to help us pass on knowledge to our children as we strive to create critical thinkers. Our children are learning to make decisions that will benefit all people. Together, we are teaching our children to be the light of our world.
I thank God for our school every single day! We are so blessed to a part of such a loving community!
