The Writing Is On The Wall

It is always most stimulating to design curriculum that comes from children's own interests and thinking. Recently, we began observing our students when they were drawing, writing, and planning their play on paper. Some of their writing can be seen on a bulletin board in our classroom.

Stemming from their ideas, we started a new genre of writing in our classroom this week called "Personal Stories." Emergent writers are working on letter-sound relationships and descriptive details in their drawings. Other children are working on using complete sentences in their writing, incorporating sight words and building their stamina as writers. We are looking forward to publishing and celebrating their writing with you!

JOYFUL LEARNING!

Cold Spring School challenges children to become self-reliant, curious, and resourceful problem solvers with the academic and social skills to engage constructively and ethically in our diverse, changing world.
