Up Coming ESOL Webinar
Paving The Way - Part 2: Strategies and Tasks To Bring Career Awareness and Employability Skill Instruction into the ESOL Classroom
Presentation Date: 6/2/2016 at 3:00pm
Description:
Several Florida ESOL specialists will present instructional strategies and ready-made, communicative and contextualized tasks to strengthen your learners’ language skills while simultaneously developing their career awareness and employability skills.
All of the panelists are currently supporting professional learning communities at their school sites as part of the LINCS ESL Pro project. Each community is engaged in exploring ways to contextualize English language instruction for work and career pathways. In addition to the contextualized instructional strategies and tasks, panelists will share some of the insights gained during their learning communities’ discussions. Links to background and instructional materials will be provided.
Best Practices
Make the educational experience more powerful and effective by offering immediate feedback when they make an error, or even when they need to know about an alternative problem solving approach. This will provide them with the opportunity to learn from mistakes by catching them at the moment they occur and seeing the direct consequences of that error, rather than waiting until the moment of need has passed to offer invaluable feedback.
Happenings
