End of Year Message
The Administrators and Staff at Hodges Bend thank you for supporting and encouraging our Warriors during this time. For our 8th graders, you all have been absolutely wonderful on campus this year and I'm very sad that we missed the opportunity to celebrate the end of your middle school years properly. We have great faith in your skills and know that you are ready for high school. We celebrate the ending of this year, knowing that your journey will continue in high school and you will continue to grow, be successful, and make us proud! For our returning students, we look forward to the day that we can see your smiling faces in person on campus.
Remember students, Be Kind, Help a Classmate and make a new friend today. And remember, you are a Warrior Doing Great Things for All People!
Stay safe Warriors, for this too shall pass. Have a wonderful summer break!!
Ms. Cortez
HBMS Principal
End of Year Grading
The final report card will be available for viewing in Skyward Family Access by 4:30 PM on Friday, May 29. Of particular note will be the T4 mark of either M (Met Standard) or DNM (Does Not Meet Standard) and the Final Grade for each course.
Starting last week, teachers contacted the parents of students who will fail their course for the year with a numeric grade below 70. For students who fail a core course(s), students will be expected to enroll in Summer School (see separate article about Summer School further down in the newsletter). Summer School Registration starts Monday, May 18 and runs through Friday, May 29.
Additionally, this week was the week where students will have their final engagements with their classes and where they had their last opportunities to submit assignments for teachers to consider for determining proficiency. This is important because the T4 mark of M or DNM will be determined by the evidence in the assignments that students submit.
Students who pass for the year with a 70 or higher in any course(s) but are on track to receive DNM for that course for T4 will be required to take a T4 Online Assessment as a "last chance" to demonstrate proficiency and to have the opportunity to earn an M for T4. Families with students who fall into this category will also be contacted by the teacher to ensure their awareness of the T4 Online Schoology Assessment, which must be completed between Noon on May 26 and midnight on May 27.
Given all this, it is crucial that students submit assignments that demonstrate proficiency, and if you are notified that your child will need to take the T4 Online Assessment that they do their very best on it. But they can avoid the T4 assessment by ensuring that they submit any missing assignments, and do so with their best effort so that their teacher has clear evidence to mark them as M (Met Standard) for T4.
We wish success for all of our students at the end of the year!
