A city of 1.3 million inhabitats, warsaw was capital of the resurrected polish state in 1919.
On october 12, 1940, the germans decreed the establishment of a ghetto in warsaw. The decree required all Jewish residents of warsaw to move toa designated area which German authorities sealed off from the rest of the city.

the warsaw ghetto was one of the largest ghetos ever. in the ghetto there are four big walls surrounding the place. There were over 20,000 people. there were a bunch of buildings. There you had to work as a slave and do work all day. If you didnt do the work they would kil you right there.
