Perca fluviatilis
Perch (sometimes also called ) belong in the family Percidae. They belong to the kingdom Animalia under the phylum Chordata and class Actinopterygii. The adult is characterized by ctenoid scales and a long, rounded body. They have paired pectoral and pelvic fins, 2 dorsal fins, and a lateral line system.
Perch are great pets that can be kept in an aquarium. However, it is a predatory fish and must feed on live fish. One must be careful when placing it in a tank with other fish. Make sure that they are not easily scared by the aggressive nature of the Perch and cannot be eaten.

Circulatory System
The perch's heart is just one atrium and one ventricle. Oxygen deficient blood travels from the heart to the lungs. Once oxygen is received, the blood is directed to the tissues. It will then travel back to the heart.
Circulatory System: At A Glance
The circulatory system is a low pressure, single-loop system. There is only one direction that the blood flows. The perch's heart is just one atrium and one ventricle. It consists of 2 chambers. Oxygen deficient blood travels from the heart to the lungs. The gills are important because the blood is oxygenated. Once oxygen is received, the blood is directed to the tissues. It will then travel back to the heart. The Perch is able to survive pressure with this single loop system because it is constantly moving in the water.
Gills: organ that extracts oxygen from water
Heart: muscular organ that pumps out blood
Atrium: upper chambers that receive blood from heart
Ventral aorta: circulates blood to gills, and then through head and body
Dorsal aorta: carries blood from heart to organs
Jugular vein: carries blood from head to face
Liver: filters out blood
The perch's circulatory system is controlled by the nervous system.
