The purpose of the CRCT Remediation and Enrichment Academic Program (Target 2021) is to provide the students who were impacted by the CRCT score anomalies targeted supports delivered via the development and implementation of individual learning plans designed to position them towards proficiency for graduation and equip them with post-secondary options.
This monthly newsletter will keep stakeholders up to date on program initiatives and highlight the support that Target 2021 students are receiving.
Target 2021 Student Highlight
Terrion Mangham
School: KIPP Collegiate
Grade: 12th
College Choice: Armstrong College
Terrion has been in JROTC for the past two years. She has worked at Domino’s since the age of 15, and has over 200 volunteer hours with various organizations. Although she has been accepted to Paine College and Augusta State University and received more than a dozen scholarships, Terrion desires to attend Armstrong State in Savannah and pursue a degree in Nursing. She was chosen as the student of the month by her student support coach because she always volunteers to help and always has a smile on her face, even when she is having a bad day. Terrion's favorite quote is, “You cannot have a positive life and a negative mind.”

What was your motivation for becoming a Student Support Coach?
I became a student support coach, because I have always wanted to help kids that are going through rough times. I love helping students develop the resiliency skills they need so that they are better prepared for whatever life throws at them.
I love to see students as they walk across the stage to graduate. Students feel that a major accomplishment has been attained. Students are enthusiastic about their futures. Their families are so excited and proud. It makes me feel proud to be a part of that major event.
I have gained an appreciation for the drive, ambition, and pride that students have against all odds.
Your hardest times often lead to the greatest moments of your life. Keep going. Tough situations build strong people in the end.
Describe your typical “Target 2021” day?
The first thing I do is go to the cafeteria to check in with my students, say good morning and tell them that it’s going to be a good day. I feel it’s important to positively impact my students each day. Then I check-in with my students with attendance issues. I speak with teachers throughout the day about students that are having issues with their grades and come up with a plan to those issues. I have a small group session during lunch using SOAR, to work with students that may be having issues with academics or attendance. I speak with students that are in ISS to go over their behavior and ways to prevent the behavior in the future. I share a workspace with the Parent Liaison and meet parents that need help. While using the computer or printing out copies, I can go over their child’s grades and go over different parent engagement activities that we have at KIPP Collegiate. I end the day putting in all the activities that I have completed during the day.
