Principal's Nest
Finley Farms Community,
Thank you for selecting your student's learning model for the 2020-2021 school year. If we did not receive a selection for your student it will be assumed you have elected the In-Person learning model as that is our default selection. We appreciate you making this challenging decision weeks prior to our first day of school as it will now allow our staff to be prepared for the beginning of the year. At this time, school will begin with online learning August 5th through August 14th. Students who have selected Flex or In-Person learning models will then transition to our campus on Monday, August 17th.
Device Check Out
As we prepare for the first day of school online August 5th, we recognize families may be in need of a device for student use. Finley Farms Elementary will have Chromebook devices available to be checked out by students during online learning currently scheduled to run from August 5th through August 14th.
At this time we anticipate being able to provide one device per student as needed by families. If choosing to utilize a GPS device, families are asked to complete the check out form and review the Student Device Handbook.
Student Device Handbook 2020-2021
Please note, if you selected the Online learning model through GPS Global Academy, the staff at Global Academy will be contacting you regarding their device distribution plan and it won't be necessary for you to complete the form.
Upon completion of the form, we will be contacting you regarding pick up times during the week of July 27 - July 31 to provide your student with a Chromebook.
Back to School (virtually)
With staffing plans being finalized this week to meet the needs of our students through each of the three learning models, we are in the process of working out adjustments to our traditional back to school events. Due to health and safety guidelines, events such as Back to School party, class lists reveal, Meet the Teacher, and etc. will need to be modified for this school year. Finley Farms Elementary intends to host virtual engagements to best reflect the memorable experiences our students and families are accustomed to at the beginning of each school year. Additional information will be forthcoming next week.
FAQs
With sweeping adjustments in response to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the abundance of information to consume and process often leads to more questions. Gilbert Public Schools has compiled a number of frequently asked questions along with answers available for families to review.

GPS Child Care Program
GPS Food Services
Dear Parent/Guardian,
Federal law requires that we notify all families annually that our Elementary, Junior High and High Schools participate in the National School Lunch Program. You may apply for free or reduced meal benefits for your student(s) by going online to http://www.schoollunchapp.com/ or by filling out the enclosed application and returning it to your child's school cafeteria manager. It is not necessary to fill out a separate application for each child. Please include all household members and information on one application.
Approved applications bring additional dollars to the District in the form of grant money. Dollars that come from the State and Federal Government for prevention programs, parent training and extra help for students with reading and math and other assistance is often based on the number of students that qualify for free and reduced meal benefits.
It is important that all parents who qualify, according the USDA Income Guideline, apply for benefits. The higher our count for student's qualifying for meal benefits, the more dollar's will be generated for student and parent programs within our District. All information provided will be kept confidential.
In addition, we have enclosed information in this packet including new menus, instructions, answers to commonly asked questions and nutritional information involving Food Service. Please read them carefully. You may contact the Nutrition Services Department at: 480.497.3482 if you have further questions.
We appreciate your time in submitting an application.
