Flame Test
Using salt to change colors
Special Effect
When the flame absorbs the different salts it changes color. The flame absorbs potassium to make purple flames. The fire absorbs lithium to make magenta. The flame absorbs cupric to make greenish blue.
Chemistry Connections
The fire shows a chemical reaction between the molecules in the salts and the flame. The molecules in the salts speed up and evaporate and the gas/ vapor mixes with the flames to make a new color.
