Urban Airship gets serious about seafood

In a surprising, industry-shaking move, Urban Airship has announced it will rebrand itself as Urban Submarine to capitalize on the explosive growth in marine messaging.

"We've delivered billions of push messages on land, so our next frontier is the sea," said Knott Kveton, CEO of Urban Submarine. "Our approach to Mobile Relationship Management will deliver highly personalized messages to the ocean's most mobile residents."

Industry analysts suggested that if Urban Submarine is successful in the ocean, its next move might be delivering geolocation, digital wallet and push messages in outer space.

Would the company rebrand again to Urban Starship? Kveton wouldn't say.
