A Note from Me
Unfortunately, we have students who need to feel joy that we feel. Make sure this week that you are mindful of how students need your encouragement, your comforting voice, your smile, and even your grace. There may be some who do not get encouragement, comfort, smiles, and grace outside our building. Give it freely.
Academics: This is an important week as we continue to prepare for the quickly approaching assessments. I know that each team is intentionally planning for success but remember to also instruct for success. While the MAP, STAAR, and BAS do not define our worth and value, they will be used to measure our academic success. We know that our progress and growth over time will tell more of the whole story, but these final measurements will tell the story that will be shared. We need to be very intentional with our time, our instruction, and our interactions so that the story told is our celebration story.
Art Integration: This is a great week of preparation for he final weeks of integration for the school year. Come prepared and be ready to be inspired.
Discipline: Dave and I attended a Restorative Practices conference on Friday. We will be sharing information over time once we have an opportunity to talk through the information. I just want to say that you will have so many more opportunities to guide and even positively correct when you have relationships with your students. It's never too late.
Thanks everyone for being prepared and genuinely ready for a great week of instruction and family support.
Joy
I challenge you this week to...
...take a few minutes to read (or watch) sometime during the week.
Professional Courtesy It's never to early to learn professional courtesy. I think that maybe when we give our request a name, it makes it easier to do.
What Music Does to Your Body Are you still playing music during independent work time in your classroom?
Learning From Each Other Visiting others during your conference periods doesn't take too much planning.
Benefits of Breaks Short. Fun. Beneficial.
Grocery List I can't stop thinking about how these parents have made writing just an everyday activity in their family. I can't stop thinking about how the little boy sounds like a native North Carolinian, too. I couldn't resist sharing.
