Valparaiso
Chile
History
Valparaiso was founded by 2 different tribes, one was the Picunches Indians, whose main source of living was agriculture. The second tribe was the Changos, whose source of living was very nomadic, which means they were more dedicated to fishing and travelling rather than settling in one place. Diego de Almagro was the European explorer to discover Chile. He rode the ship, Santiaguillo, with his other Spanish explorers to the bay of Chile in 1536. After Valparaiso was discovered, it soon became an important harbor for the Chilean Navy. It also became a major seaport to trade internationally and to receive European immigrants to Chile. Since the European settlers came the common language spoken was English, French, German, and Itallian. It is located Northwest of Santiago and south of Vinna del Mar in the southern hemisphere.
