Toro Times Week 22
February 4, 2023
This week starts with an "Odd" day schedule.
Basketball - Cheer them on!!!
Tuesday is an away game at Las Colinas Middle School. Come and enjoy the game between our two PVSD comprehensive middle schools.
Girls play at 4, boys play at 5.
We LOVE that our students come out to support their classmates, but please help us remind them that school rules apply even at away games. If they come to watch the games, they need to sit and enjoy. They cannot get up and stand around blocking views, or come in and out of the gym. They must be respectful of school rules and the direction of staff when visiting another campus.
Thank you!!
Makerspace Wednesday
Join us in the Makerspace section this Wednesday during lunch to make a Valentine LED Card. Learn how to use copper circuits to make this happen.
See you then!
Good luck to our Mock Trial Team!
School Tour at 9am on Wednesday
Attendance
We know that our children get sick, and there are many bugs floating around. We are not encouraging you to bring your child in ill. However, if they are fever free and just have the sniffles, you can give them a COVID Test and send it to Maribel Naranjo so they can come to school.
When we look at our attendance, we are seeing a large number of students out for trips, or day excursions. Please remember that all the make-up work in the world does not replace the experiences and live instruction they receive in the classroom. In addition, these absences are unexcused.
Please consider modeling for your child the importance of good work ethic by asking them to show up for their "job" each and every day on time. Our children are learning by watching us make decisions, and these are life-long lessons.
We look forward to seeing your child every day!

ACHS is coming to MV!
PLEASE DRIVE SLOWLY AND CAUTIOUSLY!
Neighbors have called to report fast driving, and people pulling out without looking, almost hitting pedestrians. Students have been reported to cross outside of crosswalks in the neighborhood.
Please remind your students of safe practices and respect to neighbors and their property.
We also have reports of students being unsafe in the intersection behind the school (Carmen Dr.) Instead of using the crosswalk, some cut diagonally through the intersection and do not listen to the crossing guard. Please remind them to be patient and use the crosswalks for safety purposes.
Thank you!

Mask Updates
Thank you for understanding.
COVID Test Kits
Please feel free to stop by the office to pick up a COVID Test kit to have at your home, so you are able to test your child before coming back form break, if you feel symptomatic.
Remember, if your child is sick, please keep them home to help keep us all healthy.
Test Pick-Up Times:
9-11 am or 3:30-4pm Monday-Thursday
Parent Emails
Please email both of us when you have a parent comment or concern. This allows us both to be informed. It also helps when one of us is off campus because it allows the present principal to act in a timely manner.

Expectation(s) of the Week-
Please remind your student to follow school rules as outlined in our handbook. There is definitely excitement in the air as we get closer to fun things like the dance and winter break, but in order for us to have fun, our students need to follow the rules.

Please have your child check the lost and found, located next to the student window.
Students are texting parents to pick them up when they don't feel well. We really need students to come to the office first, so that our health tech can go through her protocols and notify the parents. Please remind your child to come to the office if they are not feeling well.
Student Reminders
Report!
We want students to use their voice to stand up for themselves. It doesn't mean they need to confront the person, but they need to let staff know. We do not tell students who reported it.
Ways to report:
- If it is happening in the classroom, let the teacher know by speaking to them in private, or emailing them.
- Come to the office to fill out an incident report.
- Email admin and they will call you in to discuss the situation.
If your child comes to you and reports something, and they do not want to come to us, please contact us and let us know so we can follow up.
