A Message from Mr. Zeck

TVA Families,

Thank you for another great week. Here are a couple of quick notes to keep you connected and in line with us:

  • Registrations - If you have a K-8 student please make sure you read below and complete the registration process for our onsite day on September 9th.
  • Pictures - We have scheduled our pictures for October 4th from 2-6 pm. All students K-12 can participate. Students 9-12 who missed pictures this week will have pictures sent to CHS for the yearbook if they are taken on this day.
  • PSAT Testing Days Grades 9,10,11- All students in grades 9-11 will need to report to CHS on October 13th for a testing day. More to come on this as we get closer.
  • Adobe - Our iPads are more than equipped to work with PDFs. Watch the video below from one of our team on how to make that happen for your student. Several of you have asked for assistance here.
  • Exact Path - Students in grades K-5 had exact path loaded into their courses this week. They are having tech difficulties. Look for full use in the coming days.
  • Reports - You should have received an email on Friday with a progress report for your child. Our Success Coaches will start reviewing these and reach out to you next week with summaries and offer support as needed. We are pleased to see the vast majority of our students on track and staying focused.
  • Coaches - Please welcome Sara Lorenz and Taylor Lipniskis to the TVA team as our Success Coaches.
  • Jobs - Duneland has many openings for jobs including several that come with benefits. Please check information out below about opportunities for you or someone looking for a job.

We learn and grow each day much like our students. We appreciate your continued partnership and trust in us. Thank you for making each day the best.

Sincerely,

Mr. K. Zeck

K-8 In-Person Day Sept. 9, 2021

One of the key requirements when applying for enrollment into the TVA was the understanding that students would periodically need to come onsite for local and state assessments. We also have additional annual items such as vision and hearing screening and body safety presentations that we are required to provide to students as well.

We have been working to plan to the first of these days on September 9. Our goal is to get as many of these items done in one day to reduce the need for onsite visits for our TVA family. Based on the success of this first day, we will have better understanding on how to proceed and schedule the rest of the days for this school year.

The TVA Staff is now fully located in the southeast corner of Chesterton Middle School. All onsite days, meetings, and training will take place at 601 W. Morgan Ave at entrance 8. This entrance is the old Y-Care entrance closest to the tennis courts near the pool parking lot.

On September 9th the following will take place.

- All Students will take NWEA Reading and Math Assessments

- Students in Grades K-4 will work with a Reading Specialist to participate in their mCLASS DIBELS Assessment

- Students in Grades 1, 3, 5, & 8 will have vision screening (time permitting)

- Students in Grades 1, 4, & 7 will have hearing screening (time permitting)

- Students in Grades 5-8 will participate in our Annual Body Safety Program through Dunebrook

Families are asked to sign up for one session using the link provided below.

Students should bring their full charged school issued iPad to the session to participate in all assessments.

Duneland will follow current COVID level requirements for social distancing and mask usage for students & staff. Families that opt for bus transportation need to be aware of the face covering/mask requirements for all students when riding the bus. TVA Staff will be using masks and face coverings at all times when working with students.
