MESA Volunteers Needed
Volunteer for Saturday Academy (one Saturday/month)
Help students discover STEM
MESA hopes to encourage underrepresented and economically-disadvantaged students to pursue college education in the STEM fields by offering hands-on, engaging programming that helps students to learn about new areas of science, math, and engineering, as well as learning about what it’s like to attend college. Public high school students will be coming to the UW campus to learn about Marine Biology in our Saturday Academy program.
One Saturday each month (October-May)
Oct 25, Nov 8, Dec 6, Jan 10, Feb 7, Mar 7, Apr 4, May 4
Volunteers are needed on-site 8:30am-3pm (lunch provided).
No prior knowledge of marine biology is required! Volunteers will be helping with logistics (checking students in, helping to greet them at the bus stop, etc.) as well as assisting the instructors with group activities (monitoring small groups, handing out materials, helping to run games/activities, etc.). Ideally our volunteers will be able to commit to the majority of the Saturday sessions.
