Each Sunday children are asked to bring Peanut Butter & Jelly to their classroom. The group that brings the most by February 25th will have Pizza Party!! Learn more in Sunday school and at MOVE GROW BUILD that starts this Sunday at 5pm!
5th grade small group meets this Wednesday, January 17th at 6:15 pm
Fifth grade small group meets Wednesday, January 17th in their Sunday school classroom. Grab a 5th grade friend and join us!
We will also be talking about our upcoming 5th grade retreat Exit456 March 10-11 at Camp Sumatanga. What is Exit456? It’s a gathering of tweens from the North Alabama Conference of the United Methodist church. Every Tween is searching for identity. Many will look to their peers or pop culture to define who they are, but that never leads us to our true identity. Tweens need to be reminded that they are created in the image of God, loved and valued by God, and given a new identity through faith in Christ.
This event is designed to help Tweens value how God has uniquely and wonderfully made them, how God wants to give them a new identity through Jesus, and how He has called us to show our new identity through a life of love. Knowing our true identity helps us to confidently face the trials and pressures of life.
Cost is $25 each and includes lodging overnight, 3 meals, snacks, and a t-shirt. We leave Friday, March 10th around 4:30pm (we will take a church bus) and we will return Saturday, March 11th around 4pm.
I can promise you that your 5th grader will LOVE this event! Talk to middle schoolers that have attended in the past. Lots of great music & worship, talks from many youth and children’s leaders in our conference, crazy games, and more.
Please let me know if your 5th grader will be attending.
Wednesday Night LIVE 6:15 pm
For the next several weeks Elementary students will meet in the GYM for a 5 week series “Lights, Camera, Action!”. Kids will learn how to pull Biblical truths out of any movie and apply them to their lives. Topics covered in the series will include: jealousy, integrity, friendship, persistence, and encouragement. Kids will watch movie clips from classic kid's movies each week. Kids will have fun learning with games, movie/lesson, and small group discussion. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! We need at least one additional volunteer to assist the next few Wednesday nights. You can pick a night at this link: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/70a0549acaa23ab9-wednesday2
Our focus Wednesday is Integrity, David spares King Saul's life. Our movie clip comes from The Lion King. Kids will learn we should always do the right thing even when it's hard.
Preschoolers: Preschoolers will enjoy a Bible story, an art activity, music, and center play. We are in the process of developing a preschool team. If you are interested in being a part of this team please email Beth@fumctrussville.com. Preschoolers ages 3-5 will meet on the first floor of the children's building.
