Futures W.A.G Week at a Glance

2/2/15

The Week Ahead

Dear Futures,

The big thing happening this week is the NAEP assessment for grade four. This will happen on Tuesday. Testing staff from NAEP (National Assessment of Educational Progress) will be in the building all day. Art, resource, music, etc. for grade four will be interrupted.

The next big thing is on Wednesday. Our PD will be on taking, administering, and understanding the SRI test.

Rachel is preparing PLC. There will be an agenda in the drive and an email from her soon. Please remember to sign up for a coaching session with her to implement the vocabulary strategies taught to us last Wednesday.

I will continue again with the "look for" visits , with a couple revisions based on our last discussion. I am especially interested in seeing reading workshop happening at the school-wide time.

From Ida and Evodia: a number of parents called us last week. They received a "robo" absent call for their child, but their child was actually late. The only way to interrupt this from happening is to make sure the student has a tardy pass.

POPCORN! This week teachers will receive "tickets" for popcorn. Students can redeem 5 Lion's Paws for one ticket. Because it will be popped by volunteers, I cannot guarantee a schedule. When I know it is happening I will announce it. For the first couple times, I may announce a grade or two at at time so we can get a sense of the amount needed. Hopefully, this will be a big hit. I know grade five liked the idea. Also, a parent is getting ready to resupply you with Lions' Paws.

Colleen T. will be out this Thursday and all the way until Feb. 23.

Deliverables: Can you send in your weekly NNN tracker to Evodia every week? She is keeping a binder of these. Also, as part of PLC, I would like your revised schedule before next weekend.

Assembly: We need classes to sign up for a "half time" show at our upcoming assemblies! Please see the poster near mailboxes. I want to put this on hold until we get some participation. A poem, song, or dance would be great.

Have an awesome week.

Thanks, Brian
