A Message From Dr. Flowers- Principal
Dear Families:
We have been very busy this week! We held our parent-teacher conferences on Monday and Thursday. Our last night will be Tuesday, November 15th. Students also had the opportunity to see Peter Pan at the high school. The play was wonderful and our students were a great audience.
Today, we had our Veteran’s Day Assembly. Thank you to Mr. Pryor for being our guest speaker! He had a very inspiring story. It was great to have so many Veterans in the building. We are so grateful for your service. Have a great weekend!
Thanks,
Barb Flowers
HOLIDAY ASSISTANCE
Families in need planning for the holidays comes earlier and earlier each year! If any assistance is needed for your family this year, you can contact the school office ASAP, no later than Nov. 14th. Several area organizations often reach out to our school to help families, but if we are not aware of your needs, assistance cannot be obtained. Thanksgiving & Christmas assistance is available for Brimfield residents through The Brimfield Community Cupboard by calling 330-510-1084. You will need to register with them as soon as possible.
Thank You Veterans!
COUNSELORS CORNER!
Promoting and Developing a Growth Mindset
The concept of a growth mindset was developed by psychologist Carol Dweck. Individuals with a growth mindset believe they can improve at a task by dedicating their time, effort, or energy. Developing a growth mindset can help children become more confident, resilient, empowered, and not afraid to fail or make mistakes. Practicing and incorporating a growth mindset can help students change the way they think, feel, and talk about their abilities. When providing your child with praise, acknowledge their effort, progress, and persistence in the given task. You can also highlight their ability to learn from past mistakes and rise to the challenge.
Growth Mindset Examples:
"It's too hard"
Growth mindset: "I'll keep trying"
"I can't do that"
Growth mindset: "How can I get better at that"
"I give up"
Growth mindset: "I will keep working"
"I'm a failure"
Growth mindset: "I can learn from my mistakes"
Growth mindset questions to ask your child:
What did you do today that made you think hard?
What new strategies did you try?
What mistakes did you make that taught you something?
What did you try today that was hard?
Book resources that promote the development of a growth mindset.

Book Fair Time!
Dear Parents and Families:
Get ready! The Scholastic Book Fair is coming our way (YAY!). Choosing their own books empowers kids and inspires them to become Bolder, Prouder, and Stronger Readers. AND—as always—every book they buy earns rewards for our school.
Here’s what you need to know about the Fair, which will take place from Monday, November 14th until Friday, November 18th in the Brimfield Elementary school library:
This year, say goodbye to cash and hello to eWallet—your child’s digital payment account. Before the Fair, set up eWallet for worry-free, cash-free purchases. Anyone can contribute! Share each child’s eWallet so friends and family can add funds and give your kids more books to enjoy.
If you can’t make it to the Fair, then shop at our school’s Online Book Fair. All orders ship directly to your home, and shipping is free for book orders over $25. Your online orders will also benefit our school.
Visit our Book Fair homepage to learn more and get started with eWallet and online shopping:

PBIS CORNER
What is PBIS?
Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports is an important part of the school environment to encourage positive behavior. There are clear expectations throughout the school that are taught consistently throughout the year. The four expectations promoted at Field Local Schools are:
Safe
Outstanding
Accountable
Respectful
When students do not respond to teaching of the building or classroom expectations, we will view it as an opportunity for re-teaching, not just negative consequences. Students still receive consequences for negative behavior. The goal of the consequence is to teach students so they will not repeat the negative behavior.
