Important Notice about Office of Career & Professional Development Operations
The Office of Career and Professional Development will continue to provide support for students and alumni during this time of transition due to COVID-19. Our first priority is our campus community's health, safety, and well-being. In accordance with University instruction, our staff is now working remotely; however, we are here to support you as the semester continues. This newsletter will outline our office's efforts to maintain high quality service to our students and alumni.
Scheduling With Your Career Development Specialist
Appointments With Your Career Development Specialist
Anyone interested in scheduling an appointment can continue to do so through Eagle Career Net, or by emailing their Career Development Specialist directly. Anyone that schedules an appointment will be contacted via email to determine the best way to facilitate that appointment, whether that be through a virtual contact, a phone call, or exchanging emails. If you choose to email your Career Development Specialist to schedule an appointment, please include your contact information. As our staff is also working remotely, you may need to answer your phone if the call is from a private number.
Previously Scheduled Appointments
If you scheduled an appointment prior to the University announcement, your Career Development Specialist will reach out to you to determine an appropriate alternative. Please be on the lookout for an email from your Career Development Specialist for more information.
Classroom Assignments
Our office is aware that there are several assignments that were either scheduled to be due during the closure or shortly after. Our staff has reached out to those faculty members to determine the best way forward, and you will receive information about that in a separate correspondence - either from your instructor or your Career Development Specialist.
Online Services Through Eagle Career Net
Georgia Southern University students and alumni have access to a wide variety of online career resources that can be accessed anywhere at any time through Eagle Career Net. We encourage you to utilize these resources, along with our website, to find useful information as you continue your career journey. Our office has access to your results through an administrative portal, and we can examine those with you through a scheduled appointment.
Employer and Networking Events
All spring 2020 events have been cancelled. We are in communication with school districts and other employers to determine their preferences for connecting with students in lieu of a traditional in-person career fair. In addition, our office is exploring the use of virtual career fairs. Your Career Development Specialist will provide more information as it becomes available. In addition, your Career Development Specialist can assist you with job search and networking strategies.
