Dear Sunnydale Families,
School safety is essential to ensure a positive environment for students to learn. As we get into the month of October, we need to remember the importance of safe behavior; including our families, students and staff.
As the weather gets colder please remember our drop off procedures. When dropping off your child(ren), do not park nor drop off in the yellow area closer to the crosswalk. Please stay near the white lines (on Sunnydale Blvd.) and allow your child(ren) to exit the vehicle on the side of the sidewalk. Once your child(ren) exits the vehicle, they should proceed to meet the crossing guard who will help them cross safely to school. DO NOT PARK in this area, this is only a drop off area. If you wish to walk your child from your vehicle to school, please park on any side of the streets where there are no yellow or white stripes (opposite side of the school). Please do not enter the parking lot. Discuss with your child the importance of safety walking home and crossing streets.
Additionally, I would like to introduce our new office staff. Cristina Martinez is our new full time secretary, Cristina transferred from another school within the district where she worked as a part time secretary and clerical. Katie Bowers Evaristo is our new part time secretary and clerical, she has been a great asset to Sunnydale and has been learning all about her new role! They are both working together with our Home School Liaison Adrianna Miranda to make sure the office runs smoothly.
As usual if you have any questions please reach out.

Please keep checking the portal to find out your child(ren) results.
Social Media Challenges
We know social media influences our students’ thinking and their behavior. This year we have already seen the impact in our schools of trending social media video challenges that encourage students to steal or deface school property. In many cases, the student vandals in U-46 have been caught, and we’ve implemented consequences according to our Student Code of Conduct. While some of these challenges have been removed from host platforms, we know that such challenges are far from over. We hope that our administration and faculty can continue to collaborate with parents and that together we can encourage students to be good digital citizens and to avoid participating in such social media challenges and any harmful behavior. We would also remind staff, parents, and students to report to administration any risky or dangerous behavior or plans.
In addition to immediate consequences within our school, these decisions could lead to notifying police and criminal charges, potentially impacting parents’ time and resources, as well as students’ learning time and their future. Students could face an Out of School Suspension, a recommendation for expulsion, and/or felony criminal charges of aggravated battery, depending on the circumstances of each incident.
Please speak with your students about the importance of setting high standards for how they conduct themselves, and treating themselves, their peers, staff, and our facilities with respect. We want to maintain a safe, healthy, and welcoming school environment for everyone.
TRUNK OR TREAT
Progress Reports
Attendance & Tardies
REMINDER: Tardies, however, are on the increase. We want to remind families that school starts at 8:30 and attendance is taken within 5 minutes. If your child is not inside the building at 8:30am, they are marked tardy. If they arrive to school after 8:45am, the district mandates that this is marked as a HALF DAY ABSENCE.
Please make every effort to get your child to school before 8:25am so that they are ready to start the day at 8:30am! Contact us in the office if you have any questions. THANK YOU!
Food At School
For Birthday Celebrations, we can NOT have food items delivered to classrooms due to student food allergies and covid precautions. If you choose to pass out birthday treats, please only bring non-food items to be handed out at the end of the day.
